Rude snowmobilers don’t know horror they caused

Sunday, December 23, 2007 3:15 AM EST

This is to the operators of the snowmobiles traveling at a high rate of speed up Silver Street Road on Sunday, Dec. 16 at approximately 8:30 p.m.
I want you to know you took our world away from us.

While my little Sophia, a 6-pound Maltese, was looking for her brother to get inside whom she always looked after, was hit by your snowmobile.

She was hit so hard it stopped her heart and literally broke her in half. NOT ONE OF YOU STOPPED.

I want you to know she was a very close part of our family. She looked out for us and was loved very, very much. Our hearts are broken.

If I’m not mistaken I believe it is against the law for snowmobilers to be on the roads. It’s also my belief that you are not supposed to ride until after hunting season.

What gives you the right to think you own the road just because there’s a snowstorm?

I know there are some people out there that don’t care much for animals like yourselves, but for the animal lovers out there I’m sure they can relate to our pain.

I would like to thank all my friends and family for their concerns and condolences.

" How horrible-they should have stopped-but unless they were snowmobiling directly on your property it was partly your fault. Sadly for every law theres a person there to break it-we have to protect and watch over our own property, family, and pets. "

" I am so sorry for your loss. A doggy is just as much as member of the family as any human and I believe that someone who causes the death of an innocent such as your sweet doggy should be held accountable. Our thoughts are with you. "

" Isn't there a leash law in Fleming? If they were on a leash this might not have happened. "

" OH MY GOD, Kelly! I almost cried reading your letter! I and my family have owned several Maltese--we currently have our little "Maggie"--and know the absolute joy and love that these little doogs are capable of giving! I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS! "
