Now that winter is upon us, citizens who own multiple cars with no driveway, should be aware of where they park on the street. It would be nice if they didn't block driveways that someone has to pay to have plowed, and the plow truck can't do the job because of where they park all their cars.
There is a neighbor on our street that lets their dog run off a leash and go in everyone's yards. We are tired of it.

If you really want to see how “Christian” a person is or what kind of character he has deep within, watch how he handles the few ruthless individuals who lie, steal, cheat or discriminate against him or are just plain mean for no good reason. Loving your own family, friends, dog, and next-door neighbor is hunky dory, but Hitler probably loved his, too.

I went to go Christmas shopping in downtown Auburn, but there's nothing down there.

Ninety ball players take steroids - cameras and congressmen all around. Cancer now kills one American a minute with millions more waiting in the wings but where's the camera, where's the congressman.

If I leave a note on the parking meter that says I will send them the two quarters in January, will I still get a ticket?

The second Sunday before Christmas The Citizen exposed the Cayuga County Legislature inspiration: “And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.”

The names Socialist and Facist belong in all letters or Two Centers concerning Cayuga County's Legislature, judges, lawyers, politicians and Tonzi's board of health.

As far as city council goes, when will they ever learn?

It is quality not diversity that makes a great society.

In all likelihood, the ACLU will not be able to ban prayer in the city council. There's more smoke than fire in all this posturing, but as taxpayers we need to take measures now to make sure that they don't drag the city through the courts for years just for their own “P.R.” purposes and then dump the cost on us.

Isn't it strange that everybody in Auburn has the price of gas at $3.25, yet the national average on gas in the U.S. is $3? Auburn used to be below the national average - what gives?

Jeez, it's too bad the people on the Thruway Authority don't realize that if they lowered the tolls they would have more traffic and then they would make more money and be able to make the repairs.

You cops should look at the expiration dates on the handicapped tags in the cars.

You on city council, the police department, downtown merchants, who profess to be Christians but support the placement of wheel locks on cars, especially this Christmas season, are hypocrites. Take care, as in what goes around comes around.

I haven't heard anything in the papers or TV about how much profit Exxon-Mobil and the other oil companies have made each quarter since the outrageous amount of $39 billion last year. Must be they took a loss in the past year, right? Ha Ha!

Christmas is very emotional for me; we lost friends in an ambush in Vietnam 40 years ago.

I think Auburn needs all the prayer it can get to pull out of the year 2007.

I had a call this afternoon from someone who was upset with Congressman Acuri not supporting the bill that children should be taught abstinence in school. I think this should be taught at home and these busy parents should slow down and take care of these challenges with their children.

The Auburn side streets were a mess Sunday night and I can tell you why. Four city plows were playing follow the leader on South Street around 11:15 p.m., or maybe they are afraid of the dark.

Only in America! Of all the people to investigate drugs in sports, they hire a politician.

" Karl's band (as if I were an expert) -- Manowar, looks like classic metal to me. I'm a classic rock kinda gal myself -- metal doesn't bother me, but I don't follow it. However, this is a "known band" -- even my 61-year-old ex-husband had heard of them. "

" The downtown area should have free parking the last week before Christmas. A lot of cities do that. They should also be open late. It would be good for business. "

" What is the band Karl is in? Is it Gogol Bordello? I have to know. "

" Thank you sincerely, Jerry, that's very kind and generous of you. I can't really take credit for it--Joe is indeed a great leader and businessman, and has kept the band going strong for 26 years now--not an easy thing to do in the music industry! I moved up here in '94 from NE Pennsylvania. I'll convey your kind sentiments to him when I see him soon! Thank you again, and Merry Christmas! "

" Karl, you should be proud of your achievements. As I said to Joe this past summer, I was impressed when I watched a few of your concerts in Europe on u tube. I had no idea your band was as popular as it is. I am also pleasantly surprised that Joe decided to return to his home town to open a studio. For years one politician after another complained about the brain drain and our youth leaving the area for greener pastures. Joe defied the trend and invested in his community. I respect that 100%. Here is a man that believes in his community, here is a man that is trying to make a difference, not in California but right here in Auburn. He bought the building, renovated the building hired personnel, and is bringing people here from all over the world to make records. These people will rent homes here, dine out, shop, and in one way or another support our infrastructure. If anyone in the community deserves to be recognized for what he is trying to do, and for what he has done, it is Joe DeMaio and Manawar. Lou, and Joe, could have moved the operation to Europe and moved their families and lived like kings. Instead they never forgot where they came from and cared enough to return and try to make a difference. I like that and I respect that. "

" Yes - if you leave an IOU note on the parking meter you'll get a ticket. Those aren't Christmas decorations. If you're planning a trip downtown, simply prepare for it by bringing enough change to feed the meter. It will make your downtown experience much more pleasant. "
