Sweeny leads Union Springs to two-point victory

Emily Sweeny led Union Springs II with 14 points in a 27-25 victory in an Auburn CCYO fifth and sixth grade girls basketball game.
Victoria Haff and Amanda Cabal turned in strong defensive performances for the Wolves.

SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE GIRLS

Weedsport Calkins Drywall 26, Southern Cayuga 16

Weedsport was led by Libby Marsden and Gabby LaForce who each scored eight points.

Southern Cayuga was led by Vanessa Benson (six points), Allie Morrison (four) and Carrie Schmitt (four).

FOURTH GRADE BOYS

Jordan-Elbridge II 30, Weedsport II DB's Drive-In 9

Brendon Crowley scored 14 points and Austin Suslik added six for Jordan-Elbridge.

Jake Lamphere added four points for Weedsport.

FIFTH GRADE BOYS

Auburn III-Five Star Bank 31, Port Byron I 26

Kevin DiCola and Nick Petrosino each scored 13 points for Auburn while Tony D'Arpino added six points.

Trent Lawrence and Dominic Emmert led the defensive effort.

Port Byron was led by Dan Swartout and Mike Slobodiak, who each scored six points.

Gaston Moore 30, Southern Cayuga 12

Auburn was led by Pat LaDouce (13 points), Connor Finizio (eight), Terry Daniels (six) and Teddy Herbert (defense).

Zack Abbott contributed eight points in the loss.

Weedsport II Arnold's Restaurant 23, Port Byron II Ed & Jean's 20

Bryan Knapp scored eight points and Cody Stock had six in the win.

Auburn Parker and Jonah Snyder each scored six for Port Byron.

SIXTH GRADE BOYS

Auburn Monument 35, Skaneateles III 24

Auburn was led by Tom Alexander (16 points), Stephen Gianotta (six) and Jacob O'Hearn (defense).

Corey Insulation 40, Port Byron 13

Mike Charles led Corey with 18 points while Jay Mizro and Nate Evangelista each added six.

Bill Reister and Nick Doyle played well defensively.

Port Byron was led by Rich Hurd with six points.

Weedsport II T. Short Construction 31, Port Byron II Nino's Pizza 7

Weedsport was sparked by Josh Armstrong (11 points) and Brandon Dietsche (hustle).

Brad Short had seven points for Port Byron.
