AUBURN -- A man will spend time in prison for unlawfully entering an Auburn residence as well stealing underwear from a residence in Weedsport.

Judge Mark Fandrich gave Steven Rudick, 26, a sentence Tuesday at Cayuga County Court of two to four years in prison. Rudick, whose last known address is 36 Bradford St. Apt. 2, Auburn, pleaded guilty on Oct. 24 to two separate felony charges of third-degree burglary.

Rudick will also have to pay $640 in fees.

According to Chief Assistant District Attorney Jon Budelmann, who prosecuted the case, the Auburn incident involved Rudick climbing in and out of a woman's window on Sept. 8. The Weedsport burglary, which took place in June 2006, involved Rudick stealing a pair of underwear from a woman's laundry room, Budelmann said.

Rudick initially entered a plea of not guilty to the 2006 charge, but entered a guilty plea after being indicted for the second offense.

Fandrich denied a a request from defense attorney Eric Smith that Rudick be recommended for shock camp, saying that the Rudick has had contact with the criminal justice system since 1998 before imposing the sentence.
