Ford anticipates holidays at home
Each Monday, The Citizen features someone from the Finger Lakes community.
This week, we spotlight Mike Ford of United Fasteners.
Q. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A. Meeting the public and being able to help them.
Q. What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
A. Making sure materials are in on time for the customers.
Q. What would be your dream job, and in what part of the world would you be working?
A. I like what I'm doing as a contractor in industrial supply. Although doing it in Florida this time of year would be nice. But I enjoy the four seasons here.
Q. What's the best way to relax after a tough day?
A. Go home and talk with my wife, watch a little TV and read The Citizen.
Q. What do you like most about the Finger Lakes region?
A. I like the people and the changing seasons.
Q. If you had the choice of meeting any three people in the world who would they be, and why?
A. I like meeting people in general. There are no three people I'd especially like to meet, maybe the Pope and the different presidents.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A. Retired and working part-time.
Q. If you were to win the lottery tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?
A. I would buy my wife a new house and car.
Q. What would people who think they know you be most surprised to find out about you?
A. Everyone who knows me knows what I do. I'm open with everyone. My close friends know me inside and out.
Q. If you were mayor or supervisor of your town/city, what's the first thing you'd change?
A. I'd make a better industrial development policy with the city and the county working together on it.
Q. Do you have any special plans for the next few months?
A. Just enjoying the holidays with my family.
