St. Joseph School concert rescheduled
The St. Joseph School Christmas Concert has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at St. Alphonsus Church, 95 E. Genesee St., Auburn.
Students in first through fifth grades will celebrate the season with traditional and contemporary pieces along with carols old and new.
The concert is free.
Take a 90-minute holiday train trip
Two holiday train excursions will be held at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, in Cayuga. The excursion will last 90 minutes and go from the village of Cayuga to Seneca Falls and back.
Attendees may enjoy refreshments in the village office while listening to holiday music. Also, the Cops Care Child ID program will be present to update children's IDs while they wait. Then while on the train, visitors can visit with Santa and his family. Treat bags will be provided.
Boarding begins at 10:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. at the village of Cayuga Depot Office Building at Harris Park. Parking is provided along Lake Street and Beacon Bay Marina.
Cost is $10 per person and lapsitters 3 and under are free. For tickets, call the Finger Lakes Railway at 374-4994.
Send greetings to service personnel
America's wounded service members are always grateful for supportive cards and notes - especially during the holidays. All are invited to mail cards along with personal messages of support to wounded service members at military hospitals around the country, through a unique partnership between the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes Inc.
The American Red Cross will collect, review and distribute holiday greeting cards to wounded military personnel.
For security reasons, only holiday cards and not packages will be accepted. Red Cross volunteers will receive and bundle the cards, which will be shipped by Pitney Bowes Government Solutions. Then, Red Cross volunteers at the medical facilities will distribute the cards throughout the holiday season.
Address cards to: We Support You During Your Recovery! c/o American Red Cross, PO Box 419, Savage, MD 20763-0419
Be sure to affix adequate postage. Cards must be received no later than Dec. 27.
Holiday contest ends tonight
If you've decorated for the holiday season, The Citizen invites residents of Cayuga County, Skaneateles, Jordan, Elbridge and Seneca Falls to send in photos of their lit up houses for our Citizen Holiday Contest.
Houses will be displayed online at auburnpub.com and will be judged by The Citizen staff. The top three will win gas cards - $100, $50 and $25 - and the overall winner will be featured in a future Lake Life story.
Interested decorators can send their best photo and a short explanation of why you should be chosen to CitizenHolidayContest@gmail.com or upload photos online. Entries must be received by midnight tonight.
Please also include your full name, address and contact information.
