Here is some fun (and frightening) trivia - true or false; and a senior citizen poem.
1. Apples are more efficient than caffeine at waking you up in the morning.
2. People do not get sick from cold weather; it's from being indoors a lot more.
3. When you sneeze, all functions stop - even your heart!
4. Only 7 percent of the population is left-handed.
5. 40,000 Americans are injured by toilets each year.
6. Babies are born without kneecaps. These don't appear until they are 2 to 6 years old.
7. The toothbrush was invented in 1498.
8. Your feet are bigger in the afternoon than any other time of the day.
9. Most of us have eaten a spider in our sleep.
10. The average housefly lives for one month.
11. Without coloring, Coca-Cola would be green.
All are TRUE - Now go back and think about No. 9!
Rockin' Chair Boogie
There's nothing the matter with me, I'm just as healthy as I can be. I have arthritis and chronic pain, and fibro fog clutters my brain.
My muscles ache and I have dry skin, but I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in. And arch supports I need for my feet. Or I wouldn't be able to walk down the street.
Sleep is denied me night after night, but the morning brings beautiful sunlight. My memory's failling, my head's in a spin, but I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.
The reason I know my youth has been spent, is my get-up-and-go has got-up-and-went! But really I don't mind, when I think with a grin, of all the places my get-up-and-go has been.
I get up each morning and dust off my wits, getting my body to move is quite often the pits. I eat a good breakfast to start off my day, put a smile on my face and God shows me the way.
The moral of this as the tale unfolds, is that for you and me, whose bodies feel old, it is better to say, “I'm fine” with a grin, than to let people know the shape we are in.
