HAMILTON - Star Colgate running back Jordan Scott and another player are facing felony burglary charges in connection with an incident on campus, a school spokesman said Wednesday.
Scott and wide receiver David Morgan, both juniors, were charged Sunday with second-degree burglary, arraigned Monday in Hamilton Village Court and released on $10,000 bond.
Both have been suspended from the football team but are still enrolled in the school, said Colgate spokesman Charlie Melichar, who declined to detail the incident that led to their arrests.
Melichar said the academic status of both players would be up to the school's Student Conduct Board. Their future on the football team will be determined after the outcome of that review, which is unlikely to happen until students return for the spring semester and the criminal case progresses, he said.
Neither player could immediately be reached for comment. Colgate is currently in the final exams of its first semester.
Scott, from Hyattsville, Md., finished this season with 1,875 yards rushing, the third-best total in school history, and led the Football Championship Subdivision in rushing. His career rushing total stands at 4,475 yards, the second highest in Raiders history and 745 behind all-time leader Kenny Gamble.
Morgan, from Davie, Fla., caught six passes for 57 yards this season.
