A majority of town and village residents will see a reduction in their 2008 Cayuga County tax rate, according to numbers released Wednesday.
In Auburn, the county tax rate will drop about 6.5 percent, from $9.05 per $1,000 of assessed value this year to $8.46.
A home in the city valued at $100,000 would have a tax bill of $846 in 2008, about $59 less than this year's $905.
Legislators adopted a $138 million spending plan featuring a $32 million levy, or amount to be raised by taxes, this week.
The tax rates vary from municipality largely because of equalization rates.
