Cayuga County officials issued a travel advisory Thursday afternoon and area schools and events were canceled because of accumulating snow.
A news release from the county encouraged drivers to use caution and reduce speed when operating a motor vehicle on our county highways. "All roads at this time are open and all are snow covered. All village, town, county and state highway Departments are working to clear all the county highways,' the release states. "Snow is falling at about an inch an hour and is expected to wind down later in the day. Anywhere from five to ten inches could fall before the storm ends. The wind is light and minor snow blowing is occurring. If any new storm information is received an updated media release will be sent to the public."
