Dodgeball league begins in 2008
The YMCA will host a dodgeball league from 6 to 8 p.m. starting Friday, Jan. 4.

It will be an eight-week league.

Teams do not need to be co-ed and the registration deadline is at noon on Dec. 28.

Winter baseball clinic at Port Byron

A baseball clinic for Port Byron students will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 26, 27 and 28, at the Port Byron Middle School gym for fourth through eighth grades and from noon to 2 p.m. for grades nine through 12.

Golf open house is Saturday afternoon

Champions for Life will be holding an open house to celebrate its new golf program from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 15 and 22.

Golfers will be able to hit ball free, get information on the putting league and meet PGA professional Tony Biata.

Hot Stove Dinner to be held at Springside

The 2008 Auburn Doubledays Hot Stove Dinner will feature an active Major League player for the third straight year.

Current Toronto Blue Jays and former Doubledays pitcher Jesse Litsch will participate in this year's dinner at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 2, at the Springside Inn.

Litsch will join Doubledays manager Dennis Holmberg among the honored guests for the evening.

Tickets for the dinner are $35 and are currently available by calling the Doubledays offices at 255-2489.

The ticket includes a family style dinner and will begin with a cocktail hour including appetizers and a silent auction. Over it's first four years, the dinner has raised $12,000 for local charities including Hillside Children's Center, Matthew House, the United Way and the Leo Pinckney Scholarship Fund.

Softball clinic at Le Moyne College

There will be a Le Moyne softball clinic on Dec. 16, Jan. 13, 27 and Feb. 3, at Le Moyne's Athletic and Recreation building.

The clinics will be divided into two sessions - pitching and hitting/ defense.

The pitching session will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. while the hitting and defense session will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The cost of each session is $10 or $15 to attend both.

Holmberg hosting baseball clinic

Auburn Doubledays manager Dennis Holmberg will be conducting his annual winter baseball clinic on Thursday, Jan. 31, and Saturday, Feb. 2, in the batting tunnel at Falcon Park.

The clinic is split into two sessions - from 5 to 7 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. It is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 15.

Reservations are $55

and can be made by calling 255-2489. Each session can hold up to 20 children.

Every participant will receive a voucher for a box seat ticket for a 2008 home game and a 2007 New York-Penn League Championship cap. Pizza will be served following each session on Feb. 2.
