Damien Whitaker led Auburn with 21 points and eight rebounds as the Auburn boys basketball team defeated Baldwinsville 65-54 on Tuesday.
Nick Granato added 19 points, 12 of which came on 3-pointers. Dave Foltz also added 18 points and five assists. Malcolm Bryant came off the bench to haul in eight rebounds.
“It was a really good win for us on our first road game this year,” coach Al Giannone said. “Baldwinsville had just won a big game versus (Cicero-North Syracuse) who was 4-0 so they had a lot of momentum in their favor. We were up big heading into the half and to start things off in the second half they came out on a 17-9 run putting us up just six with two minutes left in the third quarter. It was a situation in which we bent but never broke. We could have gone in the tank but we decided not to and instead, built a bigger lead. That made me very proud of this team.”
Auburn (3-0) hosts Nottingham Thursday.
