Could a new area code be coming your way?
The state Public Service Commission announced Wednesday that has started studying the possiblity of making changes to central office and area codes in the region now covered by the 315 area code.

The PSC said it has been informed by the The North American Numbering Plan Administrator that the 18-county area code will run out of numbers in the third quarter of 2010. The PSA, as a result, needs to develop a relief plan.

The commission said it will provide a detailed report in the near future on the issue, and seek public comment before making any decisions.
