A third man has been arrested in connection with a pair of Union Springs burglaries that occurred in October.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office, Corey S. Burnett, 20, was arrested Monday in Dallas, Ga., by members of the U.S. Marshall's Service. Sheriff's officials issued an arrest warrant for Burnett, whose last known address is 129 Cayuga St., Union Springs, after food items were stolen from the Be Happy Cafe and Saxton Electric on Oct. 2 in Union Springs.
Burnett will also face charges in connection with the Oct. 4 burglary at Gillespie Chevrolet in Union Springs, during which a new 2008 Chevrolet Impala was stolen from the lot, according to the sheriff's office. Sheriff's detectives later found the Impala submerged in the Seneca River near Route 5 in Aurelius.
Sheriff's officials previously arrested Craig A. Mason, 22, of 19 Spring St., Union Springs, and Milton C. Black, 31, of 129 Cayuga St., Union Springs, in connection with the burglaries. Black was charged with one felony count of third-degree burglary and one count of petit larceny, a misdemeanor, in connection with the Oct. 2 incident. Mason was charged with three felony counts of third-degree burglary, as well as a felony count of third-degree grand larceny and two petit larceny misdemeanors, in connection to all three incidents.
Burnett will be turned over to the sheriff's office following his extradition in Georgia.
