Auburn's police force was more than busy over Saturday and Sunday and eight arrests were made. The big majority of the arrests were public intoxication. Willard Smith is charged with violating Section 290 of the motor vehicle law and he does not believe that he broke the law. He was arrested Saturday after he had been running his “Flivver” in a careless manner on the corner of State and Genesee streets. The outcome of the case is in doubt.

Comprehensive Technology Center officially merged with the Seneca County Association of Retarded Children Tuesday after four months of planning. The new agency will be named Seneca-Cayuga ARC under the direction of Kevin Smith, former director of the Seneca ARC. The NYSARC took over the agency in July after an audit by the state Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities revealed poor financial decisions between 1993 and 1996 threatened the existence of the agency.

After popping Prozac for two weeks before his wife's death, Bernard “Ben” Sorrentino snapped and suffered “an extreme emotional disturbance” after having an argument with Angela Vero Sorrentino on the day she was stabbed in her bed 55 times, his attorney said in his opening statement Monday.
