Fellow makes quick pin to lead C-M to win

Darin Fellows pinned Eric Urwin in 5:29 in the 130 pound weight class to lead the Cato-Meridian wrestling team over Port Byron, 53-15 on Wednesday.
Blue Devils Caleb Wallace (135) defeated Zach Abulencia in a 12-5 decision. Also for Cato-Meridian, Nick Lalone (145) defeated Jim Schroeder by a13-7 decision, Dom Giacolone (103) defeated Caleb Green in a 12-4 decision. Allen Holdridge (112) pinned Tyler Wellington in 1:07. Pat Walton (1:25) won by pin over Matt Laury in :50. Ethan Holt (160), Brandon Bosco (171), Seth Trapp (189) and Marc Walton (152) won via forfeit.

The Panthers' Christian Cobb (140) won by a 15-9 decision over Andrew Campbell. Jon Borden (215) won by a pin fall over RC Gratton in 1:56. Mike Borst (119) won by forfeit.

Cato-Meridian (1-0) hosts their tournament on Saturday.

Auburn, Central Square

Jack Weinerth won on a 10-7 decision in a loss for the Maroons.

In the junior varsity matches James Martari (119) won by pin in 3:18. Eric DiSanto (130) won by pinfall in 1:01, Rocco DeFranco (140) won by a 9-7 decision, Kenny Currier (145) won by pinfall in :47, Mike Henn (152) won by a pin fall in 3:29, Ian Merrit (189) won by pin in 1:18.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Moravia 65, Trumansburg 55

Taylor Mackey scored 17 points and picked up 13 rebounds for the Blue Devils.

Pat Mott recorded 13 points and Jeremy Stewert had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Moravia (2-0) plays at Lansing on Friday.

Union Springs 53, Dryden 46

Julius McClary guided the Wolves with 21 points. Mike Howell finished with 11 points and Devon Brady had 10.

Union Springs (1-1) hosts Thomas Edison on Friday.

Weedsport 76, Syracuse Academy of Science 52

Sean Ashby scored 18 points to lead the Warriors. Justin McDeid contributed with 17 points.

Weedsport (2-1) hosts Pulaski on Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Trumansburg 36, Moravia 34

Emily Lockett led the Blue Devils with eight points. Emilee Connor scored seven and Claire Hunsinger added six points.

Moravia (1-3) hosts Lansing on Friday.

Union Springs 37, Dryden 30

Alexa Schooley and Deven Gary led the Wolves with 13 points each. Gary also recorded eight rebounds and five blocks. Schooley had nine assists.

Union Springs (1-1) plays at Thomas Edison on Friday.

HOCKEY

Ithaca 2, Auburn 1

Steven Dec scored his first goal of his high school career against the LIttle Reds, the defending state champs. J.T. Foltz and Reggie Townsend each picked up an assist on Dec's goal.

Tommy Trowell recorded 25 saves for the Maroons.

Auburn (0-4) plays at Potsdam on Friday.
