Fundraiser to aid church food pantry
Doug's Market is hosting a fundraiser for the St. Alphonsus Food Pantry. Donations buy tickets for a chance to win a tower of treats (a $75 value), featuring gum, candy, gummies and pizza. The tower will be given away on Friday, Dec. 21.
Donations are $1 for a ticket or $5 for six tickets. They can be purchased at Doug's Market.
Have breakfast with Santa at pavilion
Families can join Santa again this year at the annual Santa Breakfast to be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, Dec. 8 and 15, at the Emerson Park Pavilion. Cost is $1 per person. Children 2 and younger are admitted free with a canned good.
The event is sponsored by Wegmans and the Cayuga County Parks and Trails Department. Face painting will be offered and is sponsored by the Merry-Go-Round Youth Theater.

Museum to host series of workshops
The Erie Canal Museum will host “Children Workshops at the Museum,” where children can build their own gingerbread houses, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the museum, 318 Erie Blvd. East, Syracuse. Space is limited so sign-ups are encouraged. The workshop is $5 for members and $8 for non-members.
The museum will also feature a gallery of gingerbread houses through Dec. 31. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 471-0593.
Christ United plans dinner-theater
The Christ United Methodist Church will host a dinner-theater at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, prior to a performance, “A 1940s Christmas Homecoming” at 6:30 p.m. The choir will also perform the show only at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. Cast members, in 1940s-style attire, will serve.
The meal includes roast beef, potatoes, salad, vegetable, bread and butter and homemade pie for dessert. The meal is being catered by Vickie Kerrick. Proceeds from the dinner will go to the “Military Stockings” project and the 2008 Spring mission trip to Guatemala.
The dinner is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and children 6 to 12, and $1 for children 5 and younger.

The Westminster Presbyterian Church will host a chili dinner and dessert buffet from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the church, 17 William St., Auburn. The meal will feature red and white chili and a selection of desserts.

Elks lodge to hold holiday meat raffle
A holiday meat raffle will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the Auburn Elks Lodge No. 474, at the corner York and State streets in Auburn.
The raffle will include lobster tails, spiral hams, turkey and shrimp.
