Whether you're looking for some entertainment this holiday season, or you're in the mood to get more involved in the local theater scene, there are plenty of opportunities.
Auditions for Seneca Community Players' February production of “To Kill a Mockingbird” will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, and at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Seneca Falls Library, 47 Cayuga St. The cast will include five women (including one African-American able to play age 45-60), 12 men (including two African-Americans able to play age 25-35 or age 50-65) and three children (one girl able to play age 9 and two boys able to play approximately age 12). This production will take place Feb. 22 to 24, 2008 and rehearsals will be scheduled to respect the cast's holiday commitments. If you have any questions, contact Director Nick Bessette at 382-1998.
The Auburn Players hold auditions for Arthur Miller's “All My Sons” from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9, 10 and 11, in the Community Room at Willard Chapel, 17 Nelson St., Auburn. All roles are open, so everyone is encouraged to audition. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. Please bring a pen with you along with a picture, if possible. Roles includes five men, ages 18-60; four women, ages 18-60; and one boy, 8-10 years of age. The play runs from Feb. 15 through 24 at the Irene A. Bisgrove Theater at Cayuga Community College.
Baldwinsville Theatre Guild hosts auditions for Neil Simon's “Rumors,” from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 15, at the Presbyterian Education Center, 64 Oswego Street, Baldwinsville. Roles are open for five females and five males ages 25-60. Everyone will read from a script. Show dates are Feb. 29, March 1, 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15, 2008. “Fiddler On the Roof,” a joint production of Syracuse Stage and Syracuse University Drama, continues through Dec. 30, at Syracuse Stage (443-3275).
The Port Byron area Council of Churches (and others) are again combining talents and presenting its third annual Christmas show, “Imagine, Christmas,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in the auditorium of the Port Byron Central School, 30 Maple Ave., Port Byron. The Kitchen Theatre Company continues its season with “Nine Parts of Desire.” Heather Raffo's beautifully shaped portrait of the extraordinary (and ordinary) lives of Iraqi women will play through Dec. 23.
