On Saturday, Nov. 17, I, too, joined the throngs at Wal-Mart to do my Thanksgiving holiday shopping. I stopped to browse a display of calendars, and set my purse and two bags of groceries on a nearby bench. I then did what many distracted, frazzled shoppers do - I walked out and left them! Reaching my car, I realized my mistake, and went back into the store.
I asked at the cashier where I checked out, and at the service desk. (Frazzled as I was, I may have walked right past them!) I then drove to my mother's, and called the Auburn Police Department, who sent an officer to Wal-Mart. Expecting the worst, I was delightfully surprised to have the officer return both bags of groceries, and more importantly my purse! She reported that a gentleman had found my things, and turned them into the store.
Thank you, thank you, whoever you may be! It is so heartening to know that there are still people who are looking out for their fellow man, and not looking to fill their own pockets!
So thank you, kind soul, you made my Thanksgiving Day. I said a prayer of thanks for you. Hope you had a blessed day, too. God bless.
