OWASCO - The Emerson Park pavilion is aglow with
holiday lights. The Chamber of Commerce of Auburn and Cayuga County will present its second annual Festival of Trees this week.

STERLING - Mary Stivers first met Robert Goodsell when they were about 5 years old and their families were neighbors in the village of Weedsport. “I didn't like him, by the way,” she recalls more than 70 years later. She grew to love him immensely, however, and that love helped her keep the faith even when community gossips hinted the late Sterling justice may have embezzled thousands of dollars from the town court he had overseen for 14 years. But after a 10-month investigation by state police and the Cayuga County District Attorney's office, former Court Clerk Noreen Kaltenborn was arrested Nov. 21 for embezzling as much as $24,000 in court money from 1999 through 2002.
