State police in Elbridge are investigating the death Sunday of a 4-year-old boy at a residence on Jordan Road in the town of Elbridge.
State police responded to 4752 Jordan Road shortly after 2:30 p.m., after an adult reported a child had fallen in the home, according to a state police press release.
Troopers then learned a 12-year-old sibling had been left to care for the 4-year-old, along with 5- and 8-year-old siblings.
State police said the 4-year-old was standing on a bed headboard in a second-story bedroom trying to reach outside a window for an icicle, when he fell back into the bedroom and sustained internal injuries. He experienced difficulty breathing, and was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital by Marcellus Ambulance, where he later died. State police said the investigation is continuing and the incident appears accidental. State police did not release the child's name.
