Snow, rain, ice heading this way
BUFFALO - Wintry weather began blowing into western New York with snow expected to follow across much of the state by Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Wind gusts up to 55 mph and freezing temperatures knocked out power to about 3,300 homes in Erie and Niagara counties Friday and left roads icy. Precipitation began as light snow Saturday. Freezing rain and sleet are likely Sunday into Monday, followed by more snow, meteorologist Bill Hibbert told The Buffalo News.
The Weather Service also issued winter storm watches for the Adirondacks, Mohawk Valley, and eastern New York starting Sunday afternoon and continuing into Monday, saying six to nine inches of snow and sleet are possible.
