State police in Elbridge are currently investigating a death on Sunday involving a 4-year-old child at a residence on Jordan Road in the Town of Elbridge.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m., state police were called to the residence after an adult reported a child had apparently fallen in the home. Further investigation at the scene revealed that the child and two other siblings, age 5 and age 8, had been left in the care of a 12-year-old sibling.

The 4-year-old had apparently been standing on a bed headboard in a second-story bedroom and had reached outside a window for an icicle, when he fell back into the bedroom sustaining internal injury.

The child experienced difficulty breathing, and was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital by Marcellus Ambulance, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

State police said the investigation is continuing and the incident appears accidental.

" I am not going to respond to the others - What I have to say is that I will pray for the family. The 12 year old will have to live with this the rest of his life and I hope and pray that he will forgive himself as God already has... God will take care of the little one that has come home to be with Him and I pray that the family will find just a little peace with that fact... May God give your family comfort during this most difficult time. "

" I agree with Candi. Accidents can happen to anyone...And the death of a child just before Christmas, what a way to remember the holidays. My heart goes out to the family. "

" Who cares if the babysitter was 12 or 42? That little boy was hurt regardless of who was watching him! It was neither the parents or the babysitters fault as the incident clearly states it was accidental! Shame on you for putting a damper on an already sad news story during the holidays. I sure hope you don't have kids and have to experience this one day!! "

" Obviously you do not know how to "think" heartbreakkidtrc before you write!!! There are alot of kids out there that are very responsible at that age. Too bad you've never experienced any!!! "

" tome8689, you are a complete moron and you too should be punched in the face for speaking about such a horrible tragedy in such a flippant manner. Don't you losers have any compassijon for a family which is dealing with a horrible tragedy? It is scumbags like you that make me pray that there is such a thing as Karma so that you can get what you deserve. "

" Yep- you have to show responsibility and take a drivers test to drive a car but anyone can have kids. "

" Well, I bet they werent thinking "Gee, maybe if we leave the twelve year old in charge and one of the children die in a horrible freak accident, good people like heartbreakkidtrc will wonder what we were doing". In fact, you self rightous piece of crap, I am sure they thought that everything would be fine. It is comments like yours which make people think that The Citizen needs to censor these comments with a greater dose of sensitivity. Are you for freaking real? You really deserve a punch in the face for that comment. "

" all 12 year olds are not alike. When I was 12 I babysat for 4 kids 3 days a week after school from 4 to 6 p.m. They ranged in age from 18 months to 10 years old. The parents were darn lucky to have me! "
