Auburn boys take Central Square

Senior Damien Whitaker led the Auburn boys basketball team with 23 points and 12 rebounds in a 61-55 win over Central Square on Wednesday.
Dave Foltz scored 11 points and added nine assists, Malcolm Bryant put up 10 and had six rebounds, while Jimmy Pitts scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Maroons' win.

Auburn (1-0) travels to West Genesee on Tuesday.

Cato-Meridian 67, Tyburn Academy 28

Preston Dennison scored 20 points for the Blue Devils. Denzer Campbell scored 14, John Bolton had 10 and Andy Wegman sank seven points and 10 assists.

Cato-Meridian (1-0) hosts Pulaski, Friday.

Westhill 42, Skaneateles 41

Jacob Tracy led the Lakers with 14 points.

Skaneateles (2-1) travels to play Solvay Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tioga 59, Moravia 44

Claire Hunsinger led the Blue Devils with nine points. Nicole Lefever and Emilee Conner each added eight points.

Moravia (0-2) travel to Spencer-Van Etten on Friday.

Cato-Meridian 60, Tyburn Academy 9

Nicole Aylesworth led Cato-Meridian with 13 points and Megan Meeks added 12. Ashley Gillis also scored 10.

The Blue Devils (1-0) host Weedsport, today.

HOCKEY

Cazenovia 3, Auburn 2

The Maroons hit in both of their scored in the third period. Kevin Festa scored the first one on an assist from Chris Murdoch and Andrew Chadderdon added the second on a pass from Brandon Morgan.

Steve Komanecky allowed two goals but had 16 saves and Tommy Trowell allowed the final goal and had 15 saves.

Auburn hosts Ithaca, the defending state champions, on Wednesday.

VOLLEYBALL

LaFayette 3, Port Byron 0

Becca Manrow led the Panthers with four aces and two kills. Captain Stephanie VanDitto added two aces, two kills, and seven assists, while captain Ashley Leja had one ace, five kills, and two digs. Defender Brooke Hamm played a strong match with one ace and seven digs.

The Panthers host Tully next Tuesday.
