Katie Lacey has done a great job for Democrats

Thursday, November 29, 2007 9:46 AM EST

Now that the most recent election has been completed, I would like to respond to your recent editorial which suggested that the Democratic Party deserves new and better leadership at the local level. Katie Lacey certainly needs no one to defend her, as she usually does a pretty good job of that herself.
In addition, the results of the past two elections should speak for themselves.

It seems to me that today's most effective leaders in the business world, sports, or politics share some common characteristics - they are intelligent, hard-working, enthusiastic, communicate effectively, listen well, organize the best team possible, and project a positive attitude.

They are not afraid to make difficult decisions or tackle controversial issues.

Katie not only exudes all of these qualities, but she maintains her sense of humor along the way.

In an age where most people spend more time complaining, and less time becoming involved - or even bothering to vote - Katie Lacey represents everything that is good in politics.

You obviously do not know my sister!

" Ok, the election is over. How long is this political stuff going to continue? There is a tremendous amount of work that needs to be done to bring this city forward. Let's get down to business. I hold each and every one of those elected people accountable to move this city forward. Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Independence candidate. I don't give a hoot who you were selected by or endorsed by. Just do the job you were elected to do and cut the crap! "

" I kmow the paper is not unbiased, it has a liberal slant. Not as bad as the NY times. That is the holy grail of the liberal media "

" Well Said Jim Lacey. The Citizen is NOT an unbiased paper and has proven so repeatedly. It took vision & courage to do what Katie & the party leaders did in this last election. Quill won because of her leadership and political knowledge. The local armchair quarterbacks & opposition party people who knocked her got a lesson in political savey that was obviously right on target. She is a credit to her party & to Cayuga County. "
