A man was assaulted and robbed at an Auburn residence Tuesday night, according to police.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers responded to a report of a robbery in the area of Washington Street and Orchard Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 33-year-old Auburn man with minor head injuries, officials said.

The man told police he had been staying with a friend at 3 McConnell Ave. when two men knocked on the door and demanded money from his friend for what they said was an unpaid debt, officials said. The man went outside to confront the men, and one of the suspects struck him in the head with a rock, police said.

The men took an undisclosed quantity of cash from the victim's pockets before fleeing the scene toward the area of The Bel Air apartments on the 200 block of Genesee Street, according to the APD. The victim refused medical treatment, police said.

Police described one suspect as a dark-skinned, black male in his late teens or early 20s, six-feet tall with a thin build and wearing a black coat. The second suspect was described as a light-skinned, black male in his late teens or early 20s, 5-feet, 8- to 10-inches tall with a medium build, and wearing a tan coat.
