Lots of snow and plenty of cold weather had no bearing on the market this morning with the one exception that a true holiday touch was added. In sleigh and wagons, 15 farmers gathered at the market to supply a large crowd of consumers with their turkeys, ducks, geese and chickens for Thanksgiving dinner.

Greyhound lines filed nine suits in federal court today asking $7,500 damages from the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and 20 officers and members. The action followed arrests in various cities as violence continued in a strike of bus drivers affiliated with B.R.T.

AUBURN - New York state has recognized one of Auburn's own with its highest military honor. Richard J. Collins of Auburn was recently presented with the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross. The award is given to veterans who received a military citation while serving in the Armed Forces. Assemblyman Daniel Fessenden, R-Ledyard, who presented Collins with the award, said that Collins and people like him deserve the thanks and recognition of the public.

AUBURN - The Auburn school board has set Jan. 7 as a deadline for making a decision on naming a school or other district facility in honor of Harriet Tubman. Board President Michelle Sedor made the announcement Tuesday night during the board's regular meeting. Sedor recalled none of the board members ever expressed opposition to naming something in honor of the Civil War heroine and their rejection of a recommendation last month to name the Auburn High School auditorium in her honor was actually a vote in favor of adopting other alternatives.
