Dodgeball league begins Nov. 30
The Auburn YMCA-WEIU Co-ed Dodgeball League for ages 18 and up starts Friday, Nov. 30.

The league convenes every Friday night starting at 6:45 p.m.

Each team consists of six to 10 people.

The eight-week league includes a week of playoffs.

Registrations are now being taken.

Pop Warner looking for board members

Auburn Pop Warner is looking for new board members. Meetings are on the first Wednesday of every month, except for January.

Doubledays hot stove dinner is Feb. 2

The 2008 Auburn Doubledays Hot Stove Dinner will feature an active Major League player for the third straight year. Current Toronto Blue Jays and former Doubledays pitcher Jesse Litsch will participate in this year's dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 at the Springside Inn. Litsch will join Doubledays manager Dennis Holmberg among the honored guests for the evening.

Tickets for the dinner are $35 and are currently available by calling the Doubledays offices at 255-2489. The ticket includes a family style dinner and will begin with a cocktail hour including appetizers and a silent auction.

Over it's first four years, the dinner has raised $12,000 for local charities including Hillside Children's Center, Matthew House, the United Way and the Leo Pinckney Scholarship Fund. Past guests have included ESPN analyst Keith Law, Blue Jays infielder Russ Adams and outfielder Adam Lind.

If you would like your charity considered, please send a letter to the Doubledays by Nov. 21. If your business would like to donate an item to the silent auction, please call the Doubledays' offices between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CYO sign-ups to begin next week

CYO high school basketball sign-ups will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the St. Alphonsus gym and from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Sacred Heart Hall.

Participants must be Catholic.

Doubles tourney is on Thanksgiving

Cedar House Lanes will host its inaugural Doubles Best-Ball Tournament on Thanksgiving night with squads at 6, 7:30 and 9 p.m.

Any combination of teams (two men, two women, mixed) may compete in two divisions (401-and-over; 400-and-under).

The cost is $35 per team. For more information, call Cedar House at 685-5117.

YMCA offering volleyball league

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU Co-ed Volleyball League is currently accepting rosters for the fall sessions that begin on Nov. 29.

The league meets every Thursday night starting at 6:45 p.m.
