Paluso relaxes with dinner at home, then a long walk
Each Monday, The Citizen features someone from the Finger Lakes community.

This week, we spotlight Michael Paluso of Auto Finishers Supply.

Q. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

A. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority. We work hard at it. We're mostly wholesale now, so it's an ongoing process.

Q. What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

A. Right now it's the business climate, with rising fuel costs, it affects everyone. Everything we sell is petroleum-based. So keeping prices in line and keeping customers is difficult. We have a lot of competition, but we're better than the rest.

Q. What would be your dream job, and in what part of the world would you be working?

A. I'm pretty happy doing this, I like the area a lot. But I probably wish I was a physician.

Q. What's the best way to relax after a tough day?

A. Just having dinner at home with my wife, and a long walk.

Q. What do you like most about living and/or working in the Finger Lakes region?

A. The summers are great and the people here are the attraction. You get comfortable on the spot.

Q. If you had the choice of meeting any three people in the world who would they be, and why?

A. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Ghandi. I just read a book about them, and the world needs leaders like them right now.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

A. Probably right here, hopefully on the job. I'd be at retirement age, but I'd miss it too much. I have a great crew here.

Q. If you were to win the lottery tomorrow, what#'s the first thing you'd do?

A. Spread the wealth with friends and family.

Q. What would people who think they know you be most surprised to find out about you?

A. How much I love music, I keep that to myself.

Q. If you were mayor or supervisor of your town/city, what#'s the first thing you'd change?

A. The traffic, the trucks that come through town with trash from New York City. It's brutal what it does to the quality of life. If they stayed on the Thruway it wouldn't be a problem, and it would make more sense instead of going through the towns and villages.

Q. Do you have any special plans for the next few months?

A. No, just being with family. Hopefully everyone gets here safe and sound.
