Lawrence Delehant of 175 Perrine St., remembered by hundreds of baseball fans as a star player for two years with the old Auburn nine in the State League, has joined the military. On Saturday, Delehant left for Rochester where he enlisted in the Signal Corps of the Aviation Department.

Fire that threatened destruction of the business section of Genoa Wednesday, was brought under control by firefighters from Genoa and three neighboring villages. The loss was estimated at nearly $6,000.

The county's Ways and Means Committee adopted a 2003 county budget Monday that will increase the tax levy about 16 percent. It will mean a taxpayer with a $50,000 home, the county's average, will pay about $46 more in county taxes next year.
