Thank you for Ellie Beck for running a nice campaign and pointing out the shortcomings in Owasco.
All hail King Spitzer: His majesty King Spitzer has finally listened to his lowly subjects and dismissed his quest to give illegals yet another incentive to keep on living in New York.

Ahem, while some of my fellow Christians are busy saying grace and having their cozy family dinners by candlelight, I'd like to remind them that they have pets outdoors who are shivering and hungry and trying to seek food and shelter at other people's houses!

Goodbye Timmy, Goodbye Timmy, Goodbye Timmy, it's great to see you go! P.S.: take Smith and Graney with you!

Heaven help us: The quitter has just been elected our next mayor - Another double-dipper with no idea what to do next. He probably will try to give the firemen a raise.

I think Wal-Mart and Lowes should step up and pay most of the taxes for the completion of John Walsh Boulevard, since most of the traffic using that road will be going to both those businesses.

This cup stacking foolishness should be an after-school activity - education first!

With the price of gas continuing to rise, why is it that Auburn's meter man continues to ride in a full size vehicle?

" I see what you're saying, Andy B -- it's a bother to have to take stuff to the dump yourself, but at least I have control over when my stuff goes -- every Saturday. I don't have to rely on a municipality to come get it for me. (Except in Venice, where I hear they don't have a dump -- aside from burning what trash you can, which I don't think is legal anywhere else though everyone does it, I don't know WHAT they do with their non-burnable, non-compostable, non-recyclable trash....) "

" The problem I have is my wife and I have 5 large containers that are pretty much overflowing by the time their fifth week pick up time comes around. Many other cities and municipalities puck them up all at once. "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Nov 21, 2007 11:27 AM:

" Oh, and my recyclables aren't "picked up" -- except by me as I load and unload them from the car to take them to the dump where they all go into one huge dumpster, everything mixed together. It's not hard to sort them as you go at home and saves the tax payers having to pay a crew of employees to do it later. "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Nov 21, 2007 11:26 AM:

" Well, that's not what they told us -- back then, if it were broken, they would not accept it for recycling. "

" I have written to the citizen requesting they run a story regarding the inside business of what goes on down there on Division St. but nvr heard a word. I also requested that they make Carm Signorelli's monthly writing more of an event as in suplimenting with pics but guess they will just run what THEY want - too bad. "

" The glass is broken anyways when it is recycled, farmer's gal. I think all our recyclables should be picked up every week in one container. "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Nov 21, 2007 7:28 AM:

" I wonder because we don't have to separate them. Where I grew up, we had only voluntary recycling (in the 70s and early 80s), but not only did we have to sort glass from plastic from metals, but we had to sort types of plastic and colors of glass. When it is all thrown into one big dumpster, and all the glass is getting broken as other things are thrown on top, you have to wonder -- do they actually ever recycle this stuff? "

nature lover wrote on Nov 20, 2007 7:16 PM:

" You know unknown, I have wondered the same thing about our clean trash - not just how much cash is made but are these separated items actually being sent to a recycler - I have asked b4 and NEVER recd a response... "

Unknown... wrote on Nov 20, 2007 5:44 PM:

" I would love to know how much the city makes each year off the recycleables that we put out for them every week. How come we never hear anything about that?? "

" Thank you HazelEyez, for thinking about us loved ones who are without our soldier this Holiday season. I am an older sister of a 19 year old Army soldier and this is the first holiday he will miss and not be with the family. It's gonna be a lonely holiday, but every day he is in our hearts and minds. He will be home for Christmas, so that's a good thing to look forward to!! "

" Yeah, cupstacking is a lot harder than it first sounds. You have to learn to make large structures fast and then hurry to disassemble it all within a few seconds. It's very good for building stamina. I'd rather see students do this than have those stupid, noisy pep rallies that AHS has that cut classtime and cause students to miss the afternoon bus. "

" While you are worried about animals (I am an animal lover, don't get me wrong) how about worrying about the troops that are away from their families this Thanksgiving? Let's not forget about them! And their families back here, at home, that are without them and worried about their well being... THANK YOU, ALL OF YOU! "

" ok justventing... what about this scenario? You are doing a house project, do you store trash left over in your back yard and bring it out week after week until the pile is gone? Think about it. "

" For those of you worried about the Cup Stacking at A.J. Smith, if you would have read the article, you would know that the activity helps children's brains and gets the children moving besides... "

justventing wrote on Nov 20, 2007 12:42 PM:

" New Trash woes. Has anybody thought of the increased workload on the city trash pickup employees? In other words people are not going to go to the dump anymore and pay per pound, but will then leave their trash “and more” out for the weekly pickup. Doesn’t the city realize that the people who bring there own trash to the dump is saving the city money? Now the trucks will fill up faster and will need to empty their trash more often, costing the city more money. Since things are getting more computerized, why not just have a 200 pound limit but only once a day per sticker. This will stop the abusers and let the person who only comes once in a while alone. "
