An Auburn man will serve time in prison for selling cocaine.
Paul Oattes, of 16 North Fulton St. Apt. 1, was sentenced to 3.5 years in state prison and 2 years of post-release supervision Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance in Cayuga County Court. Oattes, 32, admitted in court that he sold cocaine to a confidential informant in April after waiving prosecution by indictment.
Judge Mark Fandrich then proceeded to sentencing, as a pre-sentence report had previously been filed.
Oattes pleaded guilty to the charges in August, but requested to withdraw his plea in September after he claimed his attorney, David Elkovitch, coerced him into making the plea. Though Fandrich said in September that he did not see evidence of coercion, he did assign Oattes new representation.
