" brew -- The whole idea of driving defensively is precisely that one SHOULD worry about and pay attention to the other driver -- because there are so many of them who aren't worrying about their own driving much less paying attention to what you are doing. (I took the Defensive Driving course not too long ago to get the savings on my car insurance). The problem here is the police aren't doing their job with any consistency. It isn't just a shortage of officers -- I am not the only one who has seen them on the road ignoring all kinds of serious traffic violations all around them. Out in the countryside we tend to see the opposite -- the letter of the law applied strictly without regard to circumstances or common sense (unless, of course, you are part of the good ole boy network and the judge lets you off because you're his buddy). The government, and that includes all who operate "under color of law," such as police officers, are supposedly ultimately answerable to the citizens. If we don't question failings, they can just keep on going uncorrected. "

" I have an idea. Within the next few days and weeks I will be videotaping various intersections. One such area is on Grant Ave. near Duncan Doughnuts and the other is the Wal-Mart area. I will videotape people going through the red lights. I will then upload the video to YouTube.com for all to see. Perhaps then somebody will realize that we have a problem on that street, and others.
