Auburn Police Department is responsible for protecting me and others in the city from people that are defiant about speeding. They don't feel they can control the speeders on Grant Avenue, but you must.
There was another accident on the Arterial today (Thursday). There's five policemen being tied up for two or three hours there, plus the fire department, plus an ambulance, and two people getting seriously injured.

Now the Council of Catholic Bishops says “hey it's OK to vote for somebody who's for abortion.” Isn't it amazing how flexible Catholic values and morality is when it's politically expedient?

Mike Quill, we came a long ways from being spit on and neglected because of Vietnam. Congratulations, Mike!

Even if you don't like Hillary Clinton, you have to give her credit. She does have the smarts.

Bill Clinton or Barry Bonds - which one do you think has eroded our legal system more by lying under oath.

Walsh might as well change parties. He leans far left lately to satisfy the wimps that are afraid they might have to fight for freedom.

" I wish the Post Office would enforce the Parking for Postal Customers Only" sign. As a boxholder there are times when the parking lot is nearly full yet the post office itself has virtually no customers inside. "

" I'm sure some Catholics will be switching religions now that an abortion supporter can receive votes from a Catholic! The whole subject makes me laugh....Abortion is ok in certain circumstances and those who oppose should deal with it! "

" To AA: I do have a job and a very good one, that’s why I value my life, family, and children. I do not want somebody running a red light and injuring me or killing me robbing my family from a mother. Just trying to protect myself and others to live safely. Take care. "

" Concerning the accident on the Arterial, I'd be more concerned with WHY 5 officers were there for a couple hours. Seems like a good use of manpower. No wonder City taxes are high and there's never police available for problem areas. "

" RED LIGHT RUNNING IS A PROBLEM ACCROSS THE US. THE PROBLEM IS THE INCONSISTANT DELAY TIMES, YELLOW LIGHT, BETWEEN GREEN AND RED. SPEEDERS AND RUNNERS SEEM TO THINK THEY CAN "TIME" THE INTERSECTION BEFORE THE CROSSING TRAFFIC EXCELLERATES. SOME LIGHTS IN LOS ANGELES GO GREEN TO RED WITHOUT A YELLOW. THE CAUTION LIGHT ACTUALLY ENCOURAGES RUNNERS TO MAKE A LATE CROSSING. "

" brew -- The whole idea of driving defensively is precisely that one SHOULD worry about and pay attention to the other driver -- because there are so many of them who aren't worrying about their own driving much less paying attention to what you are doing. (I took the Defensive Driving course not too long ago to get the savings on my car insurance). The problem here is the police aren't doing their job with any consistency. It isn't just a shortage of officers -- I am not the only one who has seen them on the road ignoring all kinds of serious traffic violations all around them. Out in the countryside we tend to see the opposite -- the letter of the law applied strictly without regard to circumstances or common sense (unless, of course, you are part of the good ole boy network and the judge lets you off because you're his buddy). The government, and that includes all who operate "under color of law," such as police officers, are supposedly ultimately answerable to the citizens. If we don't question failings, they can just keep on going uncorrected. "

" You'll get plenty of interesting shots at Dunkin Donuts. Maybe you can get clear pictures of the license plate numbers -- taking photos is public is perfectly legal, which is more than you can say for those dangerous drivers. Maybe you can shame the police into doing more about it. (Be sure to get some shots of cops yacking on their cell phones while driving, etc) "

" Why don't you just drive safely, follow the laws and drive defensively and stop worrying about the other drivers. Your attention is being diverted too much to what the other guy is doing and not enough to your own driving. Let the police dept do its job and phone your city councilor and make a complaint. Hold a fundraiser and raise funds for police overtime for traffic control. How could they turn that down? "

" I have an idea. Within the next few days and weeks I will be videotaping various intersections. One such area is on Grant Ave. near Duncan Doughnuts and the other is the Wal-Mart area. I will videotape people going through the red lights. I will then upload the video to YouTube.com for all to see. Perhaps then somebody will realize that we have a problem on that street, and others. So the next time you go through that light, smile you may be on YouTube.com. I will tell you when it is ready. "
