Regents tests most challenging
Each Friday, The Citizen features someone in education from the Finger Lakes community in The Banks: This week, we spotlight Tanisha Ann Barnes a student at Auburn High School.
Q. What is most rewarding part of being a student? Why?
A. The most rewarding part is getting a good education that some people don't have the advantage to get, and then doing something good in life with that good education.
Q. What is the most challenging aspect of being a student?
A. The most challenging aspect of being a student is taking the Regents test at the end of the year for your Regents classes.
Q. What was your most embarrassing moment in school?
A. The most embarrassing moment in school was wearing heels to school and falling on the floor with them in front of everybody in the hall.
Q. What is the part of your day you could do without?
A. The part of the day that I could do without is going to Math because it is hard and I have it first thing in the morning.
Q. If you had to grade your own performance as a student, what letter grade would you give yourself? Why?
A. I would give myself a “B” because my average isn't that high sometimes but I work very hard to get into the 80s.
Q. What do you do to try to get on a teacher's good side?
A. I always pay attention in class and always try to answer questions when they are asked.
Q. School year: Too short, too long or just right? Why?
A.The school year is too long because we go for 10 months and get only two months to ourselves in the summer to have fun. But, in the end it is worth it.
Q. When you finish school, what would you like to do?
A. When I get out of high school what I want to do is go to college and get a degree in nursing and be a traveling nurse.

A. I have the toughest time in my history class because I learned about Global for two years, then you have to separate that from U.S. History, which is hard.

A. The best teacher I ever had was Mr. Lavey because he was kind-hearted and loved all his students and all he wants is for students to work their hardest and to get out of high school and be something in life.

A. I am really looking forward to getting out of 11th grade and going to prom!
