‘It's a Wonderful Life' in Port Byron
The Dana L. West High School will present “It's A Wonderful Life” at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17, in the high school auditorium in Port Byron. The play, based on the Frank Capra movie, affirms the value of one life in a small town.

The show is open to the public. Adult tickets are $6, students and senior citizens $5 and household family rate is $25.

Theater festival to feature one-act play

A one-act play staged in October by Harlequin Productions of Cayuga Community College has been chosen as one of the featured performances for the 48th annual Theatre Festival of the Theatre Association of New York State. “The Miraculous Day Quartet” by Mary Steelsmith follows four people whose lives are changed simply by being late for a historic event.

It will be performed at the festival in Glens Falls Saturday, Nov. 17. Directed by Robert Frame of the college theater department, the cast includes Cayuga students Matthew Crawford, Courtney Johnston, Greg T. Miraglia, Jacqueline Kocur and Brie O'Connell, along with Robin Fragoman and Jonathan L. Bacon.

Wells choir fall concert is Sunday

Wells College choir's fall concert will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in the Sommer Center, Wells College, Aurora. The program will include Schubert's “Mass in G Major.”

The public is invited. The concert is free.

Empire degree programs topic

Empire State College will hold public information sessions about its undergraduate degree programs at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the Central New York Center, Second Floor, 219 Walton St., Syracuse.

Beauty pageant offers scholarship

The Miss Finger Lakes Scholarship Pageant will be held Feb. 23, 2008 in Corning. The pageant is open to unmarried females between the age of 17 and 24. Contestants must reside, attend school or work in central New York.

The pageant is a preliminary for Miss America, and the winner will advance to the Miss New York Pageant to be held in June. Scholarships will be awarded to the winner and runner-ups.

Applications are now being accepted.

EPIC to offer teen workshop

The Every Person Influences Children (EPIC) office has scheduled a “Just for Teens” workshop series to start Wednesday, Nov. 28. The workshops will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday, in the EPIC office, 17 E. Genesee St., Auburn.

The workshops are sponsored by The Allyn Foundation and the Auburn City Block grant.

This series addresses the challenges of teens having a baby and raising a child. If needed, transportation to and from the workshops may be arranged. To learn more, call EPIC at 253-8583.
