This weekend, Quendel Ellison will be an important part of another football team competing for a championship.
The Auburn native has been Trinity-Pawling's leading rusher all season and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the Pride will be competing for the New England championship in East Hampton, Mass.
The 7-1 Pride will face Andover at Williston Northampton college for the title.
Ellison has been a big part of the team's success, playing a similar role to the one he had on Auburn's 2006 state title team his senior year.
With 1,138 total yards this season and 18 touchdowns, the 5-foot-10, 200-pound back leads the team, averaging 142 yards a game.
He has had five multiple scoring games, including a five touchdown, 264 yard effort against Taft on Oct. 20.
