Webber-McLeod wins award
The Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce has announced the winner of this year's Phyllis Goldman Encouragement Award for Women. Gwendolyn Webber-McLeod will be presented with the award Thursday during a noon ceremony at Springside Inn, 6141 West Lake Road, Fleming.
Webber-McLeod is a consultant who specializes in leadership development, board facilitation and motivational speaking.

Orchard Street group to meet
The Orchard Street Area Association will have a meeting at 6:30 tonight at 36 Orchard St., Auburn.
A representative from Homsite Development Corp. will outline a program for home improvements in the neighborhood. Homeowners will be eligible for up to $20,000 in non-cosmetic repairs through a state grant.
Dinner to benefit Sarah Smith fund
A dinner will be held to benefit the Sarah E. Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday Nov. 15, at St. Francis Hall, Clark Street, Auburn.
Smith, a 16-year-old Auburn High School student, was killed Oct. 28 when the car she was riding in collided with a bus on Route 20 in Sennett.
Thursday's dinner - ziti, tossed salad, bread, beverage and dessert for eat-in or take-out - is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
Tickets are available at Mark's Pizzeria, Auburn High School, Sam's Shoe Service or Lasca's Take-Out.
Preschool program to be held Thursday
An information night for the Family Oriented Structured Preschool Activities program at Cayuga Elementary School will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the elementary school in the Union Springs Central School District.
FOSPA is open to families who have a child eligible to enter kindergarten next fall and involves parents and children once a week for 90 minutes at no cost to the family.
AHS Drama Club to present plays
The Auburn High School Drama Club presents two one-act plays, which will be performed Nov. 15 to 17.
“Scenes from a Coffee Shop” will feature “Common Ground” by Brendan Votipka and “Would you Like Someone to Chat With?” an original one-act play by AHS senior Suzanne Smith.
The performance will be directed by Allison Fennessy.
Scenes from a Coffee Shop will run all three days at 8 p.m. at Auburn High School, 250 Lake Ave., Auburn.
General admission is $7; tickets for students and senior citizens are $5.
