Girl Scout cookies will be available for purchase and pick-up Thursday, Nov. 15, at Seward Elementary School in Auburn; from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Big M in Union Springs; from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 17 and 18, at the P&C Foods, Wal-Mart and Lowe's stores in Auburn; Friday, Nov. 23 and every Saturday in November at Fingerlakes Mall in Aurelius; from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the Community Bank in Cato; and Sunday, Nov. 25 at Carousel Mall in Syracuse.

The Purple Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps invites the Auburn Vanguard, their families and staff to an appreciation dinner for their work this year. The pasta buffet will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Carnicelli-Indelicato American Legion Post, 1 E. Genesee St., Auburn.
Support group celebrating 20 years
The I Can Cope Cancer Support Group will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a buffett dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Sunset Restaurant, 93 N. Division St., Auburn.

Erie Canal Museum invites children
The Erie Canal Museum will host “Children Workshops at the Museum,” where children can build their own gingerbread houses at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 and 8, at the museum, 318 Erie Boulevard East, Syracuse. Space is limited so sign-ups are encouraged. The workshop is $5 for members and $8 for non-members.
The museum will also feature a gallery of gingerbread houses from Friday, Nov. 23, through Monday, Dec. 31. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

Cooking contest accepting recipes
The 48th National Chicken Cooking Contest is currently accepting recipes. Winners from each state will receive a $100 cash prize, and nine regional champions will each win $1,000 and an expense-paid trip to San Antonio, where they will prepare their recipes for a national panel of five media judges.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church is asking for non-perishable food items for the Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets it distributes for the holidays.
Items can be brought in from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, to the Community Services Center, 56 Prospect St., Auburn.
