Dive into Cato for public swim times
The Cato-Meridian Community Recreation Center is now offering public swim times for a minimal fee. Swim times are 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

The center is located at 2851 Route 370 East in Cato. To learn more, call 626-6735.

Long-term care seminar offered

A free long-term care insurance information seminar will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Boyle Center in Auburn.

To reserve a seat, call the Cayuga County Office for the Aging at 253-1017.

Alzheimer's support group to meet

A support group for caregivers of people diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer's disease will meet the second Wednesday each month at 6 p.m. at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center on St. Anthony Street in Auburn The groups next meeting is Nov. 14.

Red Cross seeking blood donors

Be a honorary Pilgrim and enjoy some delicious pumpkin pie after donating blood between 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the First United Methodist Church, 99 South St., Auburn.

Donors can also register to win a $1,000 mall gift certificate when redeeming their “Points for Pints” scratch-off card and purchase tickets to the Holiday Gala: An Evening of Hospitality and Holiday Cheer, which will be held Nov. 28, at Cosentino's Florist.

To donate, a donor must weight 110 pounds or more, be in good general health, be 17 or older and present a photo I.D. To register, call 252-9596.

Support group meeting in Moravia

The Office for the Aging's Alzheimer's Community Service Program offers a support group for caregivers providing care to Alzheimer's and other dementias, such as Parkinson's disease, Picks disease and other memory loss diagnosis.

The group meets at 4:30 p.m. the third Thursday of every month, at the Christ United Methodist Church on Congress Street in Moravia. The next meeting will be held Nov. 15.

Flu clinics still being offered

The Cayuga County Health Department will hold flu clinics for adults ages 18 and older. No appointment is necessary, and there is no charge for people with Medicare Part B who bring their card. The department will bill Medicare Part B for the vaccine charges.

Those not covered under Medicare Part B will be charged $30 for a flu shot. Pneumococcal vaccines will be available for people with a doctor's prescription for $45.
