Man's bag stolen from where he slept
Someone stole a man's personal bag from his Aurelius residence while he slept early Thursday morning.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office, a burglar entered an unlocked residence on Willow Drive near Bluefield Road and took the handbag at around 5 a.m. The bag contained money, credit cards and items of personal identification, and had been stored in the same room where the man was sleeping, sheriff's investigators said.

Officials recovered the handbag at approximately 9:30 a.m. near a garbage bin in Melone Village. It contained all of the items except for the cash, according to investigators.

The sheriff's office asks anyone who witnessed any people or vehicles in the Willow Drive area at 5 a.m. or near the Melone Village garbage bins to contact detectives at 253-1610.
