Turkey raffle to benefit Ice Hawks
The Auburn Hockey Club is holding its annual turkey raffle at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, at the Knights of Columbus on Market Street in Auburn.
The event will benefit Auburn Ice Hawks youth hockey.
The fundraiser will feature food, music and prizes. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door.
The first prize in the raffle is $2,000. This event is open to the public.
Holmberg hosting baseball clinic
Auburn Doubledays manager Dennis Holmberg will be conducting his annual winter baseball clinic on Thursday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 2 in the batting tunnel at Falcon Park.
The clinic is split into two sessions - from 5 to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
It is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 15.
Reservations are $55 and can be made by calling 255-2489.
Each session can hold up to 20 children. Every participant will receive a voucher for a box seat ticket for a 2008 home game and a 2007 New York-Penn League Championship cap.
Pizza will be served following each session on Feb. 2.
Holmberg has taught this clinic for the past five years. He will be in Auburn as a guest for the Doubledays annual Hot Stove Dinner which will be held Saturday, Feb. 2.
Le Moyne hosting softball clinic
There will be a LeMoyne softball clinic on Nov. 11, Nov. 18, Dec. 2, Dec. 9, Dec. 16, Jan. 13, Jan. 27 and Feb. 3 at LeMoyne's Athletic and Recreation building.
The clinics will be divided into two sessions - pitching and hitting/defense.
The pitching session will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. while the hitting and defense session will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
The cost of each session is $10 or $15 to attend both.

D-days merchandise on sale now
The Auburn Doubledays are selling merchandise for its 2007 New York Penn League Title and are teaming up with United Way of Cayuga County until Christmas.
Portions of the sale will be donated.
The gear can be purchased at Falcon Park and Casey Park.
The Clubhouse Shop is open at Falcon Park from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Pop Warner hosting can and bottle drive
The Auburn Indians are holing a can and bottle drive from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Pop Warner fields at Seward Elementary.
Proceeds will benefit the cheerleading squads going to regionals in New Jersey on Nov. 16 to 18.
People who wish to participate may also bring bottles to the Frosted Nickel on Clark Street.
Doubles tourney is at Cedar House
Cedar House Lanes will host its inaugural Doubles Best-Ball Tournament on Thanksgiving night with squads at 6, 7:30 and 9 p.m.
Any combination of teams (two men, two women, mixed) may compete in two divisions (401-and-over; 400-and-under).
Cost is $35 per team.
