The proposed pig farm in Montezuma is not just a local issue. Don't be fooled.
The stench, well contamination, and property values of people in Montezuma aren't the only thing to worry about.
What about the major health risks to everyone.
Every day we read in the paper about health issues like cancers, infections, E-coli, pandemics, etc., most recently deaths in schools related to MRSA.
It's been reported that the overuse of antibiotics has increased the number of drug-resistant bacteria.
I read that a large percent of antibiotics are fed to pigs and other farm factory animals simply to try to compensate for the unsanitary and confined conditions on these farms.
It's been documented that the use of these antibiotics for non-medical use promotes the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria that can spread to other animals and humans.
The use of high levels of Nitrite has even been linked to spontaneous abortions in Indiana.
Let's get control back into the hands of our local farmers who care about their neighbors. “Say NO to Industrial Farming.”
Let's face it, these farms are nothing but cesspools for breeding diseases and abusing God's creatures for profit.
Our rural community is in jeopardy from diseases spread to fish, deer, birds, and especially humans. When will it stop?
Once the big companies get their money, what will be left?
We're all concerned about our children, grandchildren, elderly parents and others, so please contact your congressman, EPA, DEC, the local papers, town board, etc.
Get more involved, before it's too late!
