Mike Charles had a 54-yard touchdown run and 70 yards total as the Auburn Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee team defeated Oneida 26-0 in the first round of the state playoffs on Sunday in Chittenango.
Auburn advances to play Gates-Chili in a second-round game at 4 p.m. Saturday at Henninger High School.
Also leading the rushing attack for Auburn was Enrique Torres (51 yards, touchdown), Jay Mizro (53 yards, touchdown) and Matt Faiola (60 yards).
Leading the defense was Jack Hogan (six tackles, one sack), Jack Hensel (three tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery), Malcolm Kellogg (five tackles), Ryan Dailey (four tackles) and Terry Daniels (four tackles).
Richard McConnell, Jack Manning, Jordan Middleton, Austen Napolitano, Will Musengo, AJ Kwasniak and Jay Wilkes were each praised for their line play.
