Spartans lose steam

AUBURN - The home opener for the Cayuga Community College women's basketball team looked like it would be a good one for most of the first half against Herkimer Community College on Tuesday.

But after the Generals went on a 5-0 run with 1:32 left to take a two-point lead into intermission, the momentum had clearly changed. Herkimer outscored the Spartans 40-31 in the second half to take the 66-55 win.

Generals sophomore Michelle Johnson got off a 3-point shot to start the game before the Spartans quickly regained the momentum. Tiffany Collinsworth scored eight of her 20 points in the next five minutes as Cayuga went on a 13-4 run to take the lead.
