Dudley winner of state award
A manager at the Unity House of Cayuga County Inc.'s Cayuga County Day Habilitation and Residential Habilitation-at-Home has been chosen the winner of the New York State Association of Day Service Providers 2007 Leadership of the Year Award for that organization's Central West Division.
Angela Dudley, who began her career at Unity House in 1995, was nominated by her supervisors and staff, and will receive the award at the 2007 NYSADSP Annual Symposium awards ceremony today in Albany.
Dudley oversees a staff of two assistant managers and 33 full- and part-time employees, all of whom provide 48 day habilitation and five residential habilitation-at-home individuals with developmental disabilities with a variety of programs and services that are designed to build their self-worth, integrity and support and help them achieve individual goals, personal growth and greater independence.
Arcuri names new office representative
U.S. Representative Michael A. Arcuri, D-Utica, announced he has hired Cynthia Cornelius for the Auburn office. She will serve as the field representative and caseworker in the Auburn District Office. She will replace Crystal Purcell, who left to work for the Auburn Department of Planning and Economic Development.
She previously worked as an insurance representative for an agency in Syracuse.

Allen to appear on Cosentino show
The next episodes of “Inside Government” and “Beyond the Front Page” with Guy Cosentino will air Thursday, Nov. 8.
Cayuga County Manager Wayne Allen will discuss the tentative 2008 budget on “Inside Government” at 7 p.m. “Heart and Soul” organizers Laura Coburn and Gwen Webber McLeod will be guests on “Beyond the Front Page” at 7:30 p.m.
Both shows will air on Channel 12.

Auburn Memorial Hospital's Fingerlakes Weight Loss Program will add another option for patients who want to lose more than 100 pounds. Starting in December 2007, the hospital's Dr. Carl Weiss III will offer a adjustable Gastric Banding System procedure. This usually involves a 23-hour hospital stay. The procedure is adjustable and reversible. People can attend informational meetings with Weiss from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, and Nov. 28, at the hospital auditorium on the lower level.
