Businesses to get tips on visitor wants
Alexa Gifford, executive director of the New York Wine & Culinary Center (NYWCC), will lead a workshop on what visitors to the Finger Lakes want and how area businesses can capitalize on these interests by offering unique products, services and experiences. The workshop, “Know Your Customer,” is sponsored by the Cayuga County Office of Tourism and will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Holiday Inn, North Street, Auburn.
NYWCC in Canandaigua is an educational and experiential gateway to New York state's wine, food and culinary industries and acts as a showcase for exhibitions, classes and eating and drinking experiences. Gifford, former president of the Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance, leads the team at this $7.5 million facility.
The fee to attend the workshop is $15 and includes a box lunch. To register, call the Cayuga County Office of Tourism at-255-1658 by Nov. 8.
Wine, dinner fest to be held this week
The Antinori Wine Dinner and Festival in Skaneateles will begin with dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Sherwood Inn, 26 W. Genesee St., Skaneateles. Reservations for the dinner are $65.
The festival will follow from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10, at the Village Bottle Shop, 18 W. Genesee St., Skaneateles. The event will feature free wine tastings and Italian appetizers. Both events will feature James Coco, portfolio manager of the Antinori Winery in Italy. For more information, call 685-5197.
Church to hold shrimp, turkey raffle
A turkey and shrimp raffle night will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at St. Alphonsus Parish Center, 89 E. Genesee St., Auburn.
Admission is free and complimentary refreshments including homemade chili, meatballs, baked goods, soda, beer and more will be provided. Turkeys, shrimp and door prizes will be raffled every 10 minutes.

The Fingerlakes Wine Fest and Farmers Market will offer the best of the area from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Fingerlakes Mall, 1579 Clark St. Road, Aurelius. The best wines and home-grown goods from local farmers will be available for purchase. For more information, call 255-1188.

St. Luke's United Church of Christ will host its annual chicken barbecue from noon until supplies are sold out Saturday, Nov. 10, at the church, 25 Seminary Ave., Auburn.

Cato Fire Dept. to host spaghetti meal
A spaghetti dinner will be provided from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Cato Fire Hall, 2567 E. Main St., Cato.
Cost for adults is $6, $5 for seniors, $4 for children 5-12, and free for children under 5. Attendees may eat in or take out.
This dinner is sponsored by the Cato Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
