Kotzer understands how to get things done

Saturday, November 3, 2007 11:16 PM EDT

Dr. Kotzer, candidate for city council, advocates the use of resolutions which should be forwarded to our congressional representatives. This is a powerful tool. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates the cost of the war in Iraq to be $900 billion. Washington fleeced our money from Social Security, and caused inflation far above the 2.3 percent COLA rate, like $3 a gallon gasoline.
The federal debt has increased to over $3 trillion since the Iraq war began. That's $30,000 for a family of three, money that could be used to pay property taxes. Now Congress is standing idly by as hawks advocate war with Iran and sign on to new funding for missile sites in Europe and troop deployments which transgress treaties, thereby arousing Russian suspicions.

The cause? To quote Dr. Kotzer in a My Opinion article in The Citizen, “The program is, the multinationals have a way of using our sons and daughters in the military and U.S. dominated NATO to guarantee corporate profits abroad at the expense of others.”

City councilors should send Congress resolutions on matters that will deplete the wallet of every Auburnian. Cut off funding on the proposed NATO missile sites on Russia's doorstep that will touch off another costly arms race. Work for the benefit of our people in Auburn and not multinational corporations by supporting Kotzer's resolution.
