Two tickets have been issued to the teenage driver involved in an accident that killed a 16-year-old girl last week.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office ticketed Kevin Bouley, the driver of a car that collided with a bus, resulting in the death of Sarah E. Smith.

Bouley was ticketed for failure to yield right of way at a stop sign and operating in violation of restrictions. Bouley, 16, had a restricted license. He violated the terms of his limited use junior operator's license, the investigation revealed.

He drove a 2000 Ford Escort from Town Hall Road into the path of a Centro bus traveling down Route 20 on Sunday, Oct. 28.

Both he and passenger Ashly M. Januska were treated for injuries at University Hospital in Syracuse. Smith was thrown from the car and was pronounced dead at Auburn Memorial Hospital.

The investigation also revealed the Central bus was traveling slower than the speed limit of 55 mph at the time of the collision, according to the report. The bus driver, Dawn M. French, 51, suffered minor injuries. None of the nine bus passengers reported injuries.

" Sorry James; your defensive self-righteousness is noted, but you're missing the point. Just because YOU may have been blessed with good parents who taught you responsible behavior, or just plain lucky, but boredinmoravia is speaking with wisdom here-I see WAY TOO MANY kids texting while driving, goofing off, not paying attention. "BIM" is not. NOT "judging" the BOY! She is commenting on THE LAW allowing 16-year-olds to operate a motor vehicle unsupervised, with distracting influences like jocular friends around. No matter, though...as you mature and grow older, you'll come to agree with us both. THE FACT THAT HE WAS DRIVING OUTSIDE OF THE LEGAL BOUNDS OF HIS LICENSE JUST PROVES HER POINT ABOUT THE DRIVER'S IMMATURITY! "

" What is sad is boredinmoravia comments, sooo very sad. Grow up yourself, before you make these type of childish-off the wall comments. The boy made an error in judgement, and God know there is NOT a single one of use that is perfect. But don't pretend like we adults can do it any better, because we CAN'T. Like the poor 57 year old guy who just ran off Townline road next county over, or the bunch of accidents adult did on Friday in Syracuse. boredinmoravia statement more likely comes from an overprotective parent, or just someone looking to spark a negative reaction. So very sad. I started driving when I was sixteen, and never had any problem...some do, we are not all made the same way and to read intolerance and hated in boredinmoravia post is just WRONG! I hope for the best for all the families suffering through these trajedies. "

" Sad news is that a childs life was lost due to imaturity in driving...this is a perfect example of why my 17 yr old is being forced to wait till next year before even being allowed to take her test and the reason why is just this that at this age they all think they know whats best and god knows they are still children and learning to be an adult and with adult hood comes responsibility, some get it and some dont.... SEAT BELTS ARE IN VEHICLES FOR A REASON TEENS!!! "
