If the Meridian fire department put forth the effort they are using to discredit those town board members who did their job protecting the taxpayers of the town of Cato, they would not have lost the contract. The Cato, Jordan and Weedsport fire departments were not afraid of being held accountable and had no trouble providing the requested documentation.
Whether you are a humanitarian or simple human - vote for Mike Bass. If you are perfect, a robot, or a superhero, Jon Budelmann is your man.

I know many corrections officers feel that Jon Budelmann has done them justice, but he hasn't for me. What makes you think Mike Bass isn't going to do as much or more for us corrections and law enforcement officers?

No more brawl in city hall --- Lattimore and Dempsey must go to bring back integrity to Auburn, N.Y.

If Mike Bass wants to be district attorney, don't you think you should work as one a little more recently than seven years ago for 18 months.

The Cato Town Board just fired 20-plus volunteers from the Meridian Fire Department, while the news last night was that surrounding communities were begging for volunteers. Vote for change next week and let's get some reality back in Cato.

Congratulations to The Vanguard on winning second place in the New York State Field Band Competition at the Dome! It has been a great year watching the Horror Show come alive.

I really think our children are too young to drive at 16. It's a lot of responsibility for them.

There are two candidates for Cayuga County District Attorney's office this year. The two opponents are a man with experience and integrity and a large-mouth Bass.

I've got a suggestion for the folks who are so upset with the Cato board's decision concerning the Meridian Fire Department: Why not "put up or shut up," and join the Meridian Fire Department, increase the membership, help with the fund drives to buy more equipment, and doing reports or anything else that needs to be done.

Cato Republican town board members: Why are you having a meeting to meet the candidates? We all met you at the last three town board meetings.

Thank you, Jason Gabak, for the nice article on the Meridian Fire Department Auxiliary Halloween party in The Citizen on Sunday.

Michael Vasco, you sound like a disgruntled employee to me. Would you like some cheese with that whine?

America has become a victim of the fallacy gambling promotes as your personal easy button in life. What are we teaching our children by having a casino night to fund the Cayuga Home for Children?

The U.S. H.R. is the most mismanaged bunch of people in the world and they have the nasty nerve to criticize Secretary Rice. God help America.

Bank tellers should at least make some eye contact with customers and give us a friendly hello when we deposit money, since we make it possible for them to have their nice jobs. I work customer service jobs and I understand that I am being paid to be nice to people, rich or poor, which is why even my most basic interaction with customers surpasses what I am observing from some of you Auburn bank tellers.

Why vote for a mayor when we don't need a mayor. The city manager will do fine.

Destroying or damaging public property is outrageous. You who are responsible take no pride of those who have served your country to keep you free and you cannot have any respect for anything, including yourselves.

Now is the time for all Americans to have another tea party! Stop believing in political ads and demand to be better informed about what is really going on in all levels of government.

Mike Bass clearly demonstrated for all to see at the recent forum debates that he is the better speaker, lawyer, candidate, and, most importantly, the better person to become our next Cayuga County district attorney.

The people of Auburn need someone who will fight for what they believe in, not run away like Mike Quill.

Auburn voters, Mr. Bass has been receiving his information about the district attorney's office secondhand. We will keep Mr. Budelmann and Mr. Bass can go back to St. Lawrence County.

As an honor to our veterans, I think the city should pay and put video cameras at the new memorial park and memorial monuments in downtown Auburn.

Town board of Montezuma and the farm bureau have no jurisdiction over bringing any overload of pigs. This is not a farm but it is what is called a business and regulated by the state.

The mayor is proud of his environmental accomplishments. Does that include his importing of waste from all over the northeast to our landfill with its proximity to the Owasco outlet and a populated area.

Mr. Bass sounds like an uneducated football player when he talks.

" I hope the newly elected Cato Town Board members will closely examine the Meridian Fire department finances before giving them our tax dollars to spend on themselves again. Ask the local businesses why they won't deal with the MFD without cash upfront. I hope the new members of the board will be responsible to the taxpayers, and not just to themselves. "

" Regarding Cato Board: I picture Stuffy on a leash, being led by his father. I hope everyone realizes that you really voted his father in, not Stuffy puppet. "

" The Cato Board election proved just how many "woodchucks" live in Cato that are more worried about losing their "Bingo night" than that their tax dollars are being misused by their precious Meridian FD. If nothing else, at least tax payers won't be paying for FD officials' groceries, car payments, mortgage payments, fancy quilted winter coats with all their FD patches and embroidery and utility bills for the next year. The two that got into the Board only got their because they ran against Chapman and Dennison. We will be watching them closely. You must make moral decisions, not work off of agendas now. I also hope that since now Chapman and Dennison don't have the legal link w/ being on the board, that they start naming names and prove to the community that they made a mistake in mistrusting them with watching our tax dollars. Bottom line, they did not close the MFD, they just refused to give them anymore of our money to use as they please. There are other avenues that they get their money from, and will continue to. They just have to be a little more "thrifty" with their misuse of our money. "

" Hallowweeny: Sorry, I was out of town a few days and missed your question. My answer: Corporate agribusiness is destructive, whether it's cows or pigs or whatever. Greed leads to unhealthy practices, bringing in more animals than the land can bear, keeping them under unhealthy and often inhumane conditions, and the DEC does not enforce the piddling little regulations we have. I wish the folks in Montezuma much luck in their battle against a corporate hog operation in their backyards -- the fumes can kill people and animals in concentrated amounts, and make them sick even in lesser amounts, while the waste overspread on fields pollutes the water. I hope they contact the folks at the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund for assistance and guidance. "

" Ann Petrus says she will keep the legislature and Community Services board on the same page going forward. As the Legislature rep on the CSB wasn't that her job along? so now she is going to do her job.too little, to late. "

" Karl, if Oprah was our Secretary of State there would have been a sex scandal. Is Cato that little town I drive through in 1 minute? Farmer's Gal, what's you thought on the pigs in Montezuma? "

" OH. MY. GOD! Somebody actually had the STUPIDITY to support Secretary RICE?! What a USELESS SYCOPHANT! What a PATHETICALLY ineffective, ideologue! We'd have been better off with Oprah for our Secretary of State! "
