Water conservation request extended
Auburn officials expanded the water conservation request to today. The water treatment plant is undergoing scheduled maintenance, which crews aim to have done by the end of today.
Consumers are asked to conserve water where possible until the weekend. This goes to city residents, as well as water customers in Throop, Brutus, Montezuma, Sennett, Aurelius water district 1 or 2, Springport water district 2, Fleming water district 6, the villages of Weedsport and Port Byron, and Cayuga County Water and Sewer Authority customers.
The city is installing a power generator to back up the water treatment power plant in case of emergencies or power outages. Only a portion of the water treatment plant will be operational, so the city water treatment capacity will be reduced.
People with questions can call the city at 253-8754 or Cayuga County Health Department at 253-1405.
